| Sunday, October 30, 2005 Em and I driving by the Arclight today --
Oy.. Pictures and whatnot when I get a chance!
Friday, October 21, 2005 I'm going sailing today, so I figured before I left, I should update and upload my newest animation. Sorry I haven't updated lately, but I really don't have much to say, and I hadn't animated anything. Hopefully I'll update more after I get back with some salty stories of the sea. Until then, how about a couple of sea-related quotations:
Wednesday, October 12, 2005 Here's my newest animation, and now with A BILLION TIMES MORE MONOPHONIC EXCELLENCE!! Seriously, though. This one has sound, so don't watch it in class or work. Or watch it in class, but make sure you have your audio muted. Don't watch it at work though, because you should be working. Nah, I'm kidding, go ahead and watch it, lazy-ass. And remember, kids, I'm only doing this for your entertain-ment (yes, hyphenated), so keep making your own animations and send 'em on in! Sunday, October 09, 2005 Man, these animations keep rollin' on in. Keep them comin, kids, they're great! Maybe I'll change the "downloads" thingy in the sidebar to "Animations" and keep a running tab of them (I doubt I'll have too many downloads...) So, I guess this is my newest blog feature! Nice. So, just print out a few, take them to class or work and when you're bored, draw somethin'! Anyway, enough of that, here's the latest animation to come in. It's a ninja-epic from Scott! Also notice the newest leader I'm putting on all the animations I get now. This way, when you download them, it won't just play all of the sudden, and you have to go back and look at it again to get it. Yeah. Leader is fun... anyway...
Saturday, October 08, 2005 By the way, opposed to all the positive reviews, "A History of Violence" is an awful, awful movie. I try not to spoil the movie, but there are always some things that will spoil it a little, so if you are REALLY going to see it, don't read. Quickly, here's why I hated it: - The individual situations are VERY cliche. Such as when the son wins a baseball game even though he sucks at sports, and the school bully is going to beat him up for it, which he gets out of by his quick retort and razor-sharp witty comebacks, which make his peers laugh.... come on! Or when the daughter wakes up because she had a nightmare and the entire family comes in the room to sit with her and make her feel ALL BETTERS!..... Then there are the mobsters who always wear black and drive black cars. Also, the funny and sarcastic Jewish mobster. Also, (not trying to spoil it for anyone) a psychological disease which belongs in a soap opera... All very original. I kid you not, I was expecting a twist ending, like a long lost twin brother or something. The only reason I didn't walk out was because I wanted to see what possible situation they could have come up with to justify the whole movie. - All the characters are very, very flat. Everyone is SO one dimensional. The acting reflects this. - People do things for no reason. Viggo washes his face in a lake behind a house - a lake he didn't know was there - instead of using a bathroom? - The theme of the movie is if you lie to your family and kill a lot of people, not only will you not get in trouble, but your family will accept you for it. - There is no retribution for Viggo's character. He is not a good person, nor has he REALLY changed, and he never gets what's coming to him. Sure, you can use that in a movie, I just don't agree with it as good story. This point is completely opinion. - The sound was atrocious. They must have shot the entire movie next to an airport, because EVERYTHING was ADR (dubbed later) and it sounded terrible. - On a positive point, it looked nice. However, some scenes, especially the last one, kept cutting back to the same shots. But besides a little sparsity in shot variety in some points, it looked good. If you're going to see a movie, see Good Night and Good Luck. It's much, much better.
Friday, October 07, 2005 New animation! This one's from Em. Now, I realize that everyone who read my blog knows me, but JUST in case there are people reading this that I don't know, you can email your animations to mrpopo AT pacbell.net And now the Animation template can be found on the sidebar. Keep them comin!
Wednesday, October 05, 2005 Well friends, in today's entry, you will find the very first home-made animation sent in to me so far. It's from my pops. I suggest you take a gander at it, as it's quite good, and I hope that it inspires you to create your own. The template can be found at the end of the previous entry. Maybe I'll put a link to it in the sidebar somewheres... Anyhow, I figured my phone was due for a good picture-dumping, so here are those, and then the movin' picture. This is the sky in Santa Monica, as shot through some polarized sun glasses. Here's a guy getting his fortune told by some kitties. Here's a different guy inquiring about getting his fortune told by some kitties... This is the view from the top of the Georgian Hotel, on 2nd Street. Here's Emmy, looking out of the top of the Georgian Hotel. Here's that same kid that appears to be ever-so-popular in my blog being humped by Howard Johnson. Some more humpitude. We took a field-trip to FotoKem to see how film is developed and telecined. Instead of taking pictures of machines or the lab or anything like that, I took pictures of their cool posters... See? Cool poster, right? This one's the movie. Enjoy Here's the actual page that was sent in to me. See? It's not so hard, you should do it too! The template's right here!
Saturday, October 01, 2005 Okay, I realize it's been a while since I updated, but I realized that very few people actually read this who don't see me mostly every day, so there's very little actual point in updating often. For example, the only person who comments is Emily, and she's already seen everything I'm about to upload, so there's no real point in rushing out to update, right? Well, that being said, here's the stuff. OH, before that. I've also realized that my blog has become less about what I'm doing and what I'm up to and more about the crazy shit I see around and take pictures of. And I'm okay with that. ANYHOw... here's the shit (in no particular order) Remember, as always, click the picture to enlarge into HI-ReZ (unless it's a movie, in which case clicking on said image would link to the aforementioned movie... but that's a technicality...) I was bored in screenwriting, so I did this. If it's popular (meaning, if someone besides Em leaves me a comment telling me to), I'll scan the paper and make a better quality movie of it. This was just done with my phone. All in class. Note: This one's a movie, kids, so click on the picture to see it. It goes quick. This is from my sailing class. I couldn't believe nobody else was laughing.... Here are people passed out in our hallway from the last party. Fun. The palm of Emily's hand the other day. And the back of Emily hand the other day. (The same day) This is from a while back, I just kept forgetting to scan it. I visited Em at her place of work, at the Annenberg Equipment Room, and she checked me out some equipment. Update: Okay, I scanned the doodle of the rocket and then animated it, so now there's a Hi-Def version. There's also the scanned page of my notebook, all for your enjoyment! So, enjoy! Click the picture to see the MOVIE. Click HERE to see the page of my notebook. ANIMATION TEMPLATE!! Now, if you want to make your own little animation, click on this picture, print it out and draw something cool. Then, either scan and send it to me, or just give me the hard copy and I'll scan it. Then I'll post it online for all to enjoy!
